The Zen circle, or "Enso", is one of the most prevalent themes in Zen calligraphy and a metaphor for the Zen route to enlightenment.

For the Zen priest, the Enso represents encompassing the whole so you perceive the world as both a single and complete entity omitting nothing, and as nothing.

It represents a philosophy of seeing the world in such a way that the complex becomes simple and the unknowable becomes understood. Most importantly, it describes understanding achieved through simplicity, and through returning to the beginning.

Insight SRI has adopted this image to convey that same sense of learning, of simplicity, and of answers which come from understanding the whole.
